Lower School
Under the direction of Mrs. Peggy Lyden and David Hughes this program is setting the ground work and foundation for our students's musical development. The students learn the basics of music, which involves matching pitch, rhythm as well as learning by site and sound the instruments of and orchestra. Even at this early stage proper vocal production and diction are adhered to.
Students in grades Pre-K-2, perform the songs they learn in class during a weekly church service and a class is selected to sing "on the red steps" for the entire congregation. The song selection corresponds to the Episcopal Church's liturgical year and to the Bible stories chosen by the clergy. Each year the music department collaborates with multiple disciplines to produce an annual program for each grade level: Mother's Day (Pre-K), Grandperson's Day (K), Christmas Program (1st) and the 2nd grade musical.
