Sandy Santoli - Boys Golf
Coach Santoli graduated Southern Arkansas College in Magnolia, Arkansas in1972. There, he taught three years at a 1-A high school, then taught one year in his home state of New York. Sandy moved to Mobile in 1976 and taught at McGill-Toolen. While at McGill I coached varsity football (defensive secondary) and tennis. While coaching tennis, his teams won two state championships. The last one in 1979, they finished 6th at the nationals at Duke University.
Santoli began working at St. Paul’s in 1979, coaching varsity football, freshman basketball, and varsity tennis. His first year coaching tennis, his team won a state championship and finished 5th at the nationals at Duke. Sandy's teams won a total of three state tennis championships. After tennis, Sandy was the middle school athletic director. Following that, Sandy coached varsity football again for five years, as defensive coordinator. After varsity football, I coached 7-8 grade football.
For the last 17 years, Sandy has been Head Coach of the Varsity boys golf team. His teams have won nine state championships. Several former players of Coach Santoli are: Zack Sucher, now a PGA professional; Robby Shelton, state medalist four times, first team All American at the University of Alabama as a freshman and National Freshman of the Year. In 2012 and 2014, Santoli was honored with NFHS Coaches Association State golf "Coach of the Year."
Sandy is also responsible for the school's recycling program. Sandy have been married to Susan for 28 years and they have two granddaughters, 7 and 4.
