We all enjoyed going on a leaf hunt and searching for fall leaves. It can be a challenge, but all were successful and proud of their leaves!
1st Grade Dissects Owl Pellets This Week!

Our 1st Grade classes have enjoyed learning about different types of owls and the food chain. The students worked with a partner in this activity.We identified the bones found in the pellets from various small animals.. One student said he felt like a paleontologist! 

Kidwings is the virtual Owl Pellet dissection site we used in class before we actually dissected!

Zoos Galore

All second grade classes have been learning about animal classification. They had a field trip to the Zoo in Gulf Shores and Alligator Alley also! We have taken the knowledge we learned to create our own zoo habitats. Each child had to develop the proper environment and food necessary for all animals to survive! We all learned a great deal from this fun activity!

Our First Silkworm Has Popped!

We are thrilled our first Silkworm emerged from it's white cocoon today! We have waited patiently for this event since our eggs hatched!

Mad Scientists Auction Adventure!
4/23/2012

This week was our Mad Scientist Auction Adventure in the Lab for three lucky boys! They were treated to Root Beer floats and Pollman's Cookies. We made volcanoes erupt and our Lab Assistant Seth Gross ('05 class) guided them through a frog dissection. We ended our fun with Diet Coke and Mentos explosions! It was a fun time for all involved!

Our Silkworms have formed Cocoons!

We have enjoyed watching our silkworms form twelve cocoons last week! It was really exciting to watch them hatch from eggs to growing larger daily and finally the silk cocoons were spun. We can hardly wait for them to pop out as moths next month!

We are all fascinated and thrilled to watch our butterflies emerge from their chrysalises!

Magical Monarchs!

All of our science classes have been mesmerized by the Monarch Caterpillars my Mom brought us from Dauphin Island last week. We were able to observe them eating and making their beautiful bright green chrysalis for several days.We are anxiously awaiting the emergence of all ten new butterflies to pop out! We are really hoping it happens before Spring Break!

Spunky's Auction Adventure Weekend!

Spunky had a fabulous weekend at Ella Frances Scott's home from the Auction Adventures! He enjoyed her dog, Duchess and hopping around in Ella Frances bathroom too! Many thanks to all in the Scott family for taking such good care of Spunky!

Insects Invade First Grade!

Our Painted Lady Butterflies hatched this week! All classes enjoyed viewing them in the Butterfly Habitat!

First Grade enoyed rotating through many insect centers as they worked on a variety of activities in the Lab.

2nd Grade Makes Motion!

Last Sunday our friendly neighborhood frogs left frog eggs in our fountain in front of the PK building! On Thursday, they popped out of their eggs. We are enjoying watching them change before our eyes! Keep watching for tadpole updates...!

Our Oobleck Was Oozing with Fun!

All classes enjoyed exploring with Oobleck in honor of Dr. Seuss' 108th Birthday this week!

Mrs. McDonald read the Dr. Seuss book, Bartholomew and the Oobleck last week to all classes. We had a blast with the green slime in the Lab!

Oobleck is a unique substance that can have properties of a liquid and a solid. Be sure to ask your child about Oobleck! Click here to see more pictures!

Future Paleontologists in Transitional Kindergarten!

 Our Transitional Kindergarten class has enjoyed learning about dinosaurs and their fossils. We made Plaster of Paris fossils with our dinosaurs! It was fun cracking them open to see our fossils!
