St. Paul’s is a leader in the adoption of technology to enhance the learning environment in the classroom. From its start in the early eighties with a ten-station lab, the St. Paul’s technology department has developed a campus-wide network connecting all classrooms. More than 750 laptops connect to the network via wireless access points installed throughout the main campus and more than two hundred workstations are connected by Ethernet.
Beginning in the academic year 2004-2005, the laptop program expanded to include students in the seventh and eighth grades. Currently all students in grades 9-11 are required to have laptops and the requirement will expand to include grades 9-12 in 2011-2012.
The School has a computer lab containing 25 laptops for third and fourth grade classes where they learn typing skills and Microsoft Office programs. There are also Neo-2 and AlphaSmart keyboards in each third and fourth grade classroom.
St. Paul’s continually works with teachers to develop new lessons and instructional strategies which take advantage of the technology and provide learning experiences not available in the traditional classroom.
