College Guidance

The College Counseling program is an integral part of the total experience of a St. Paul’s Episcopal School education. The counseling department is committed to educating and preparing each of our students for the college search, application, and selection process. Searching for a college match is a highly individualized experience.Although the formal college search begins during the junior year, the process starts in the spring of the eighth grade year with an introductory college workshop. Intense emphasis is put on course selection.Throughout high school the entire counseling team works with students to aid them in selecting courses that maximize their potential. The team is made up of two College Counselors, the freshman counselor, and the sophomore/junior/senior counselor.

Students are encouraged to pursue the strongest academic program appropriate for them and to develop a special talent or interest beyond the classroom.Programs are offered throughout each of the four high school years for students and parents on topics including course selection and the college admissions process. Individual meetings between the college counselor, students and parents are scheduled in the spring of the junior year and fall of the senior year. The

College Counselors assist the students with approaches to applications and scholarships, offer suggestions of alternative colleges/universities and help with specific strategies and deadlines. While the application process remains firmly rooted in the responsibility of the student, comprehensive guidance is continuous.
