Saints Perform Well at Martin Luther King, Jr. Track Meet in Birmingham

The Saints had a great meet at the Martin Luther King, Jr. track meet at the Birmingham Crossplex on January 16, 2023. Senior Evan Wrights won both the 400m (49.63) and 800m (1:59.35). Sophomore Janie Ford won all 4 events she entered and broke the meet record in the triple jump. She won the high jump (5’4”), long jump (18’1”), triple jump (39’9.5”) and 60m hurdles (9.07). Sophomore Sadie Carrington won the pole vault 11’6” and was 4th in the triple jump (32’7”). Senior Stone Smith won the 3200m in a time of 9:17.60. Junior Carley Perkins was 2nd in the pole vault (10-6). Junior Emily Miles was 3rd in the 800m (2:23.93) and 2nd in the 1600m (5:21.63). Junior Colleen Luttrell was 4th in 60m hurdles and 5th in the pole vault. Junior Lauren Parker was 5th in the shot put. Senior Jonathan Rush was 8th in the 800m. Junior Philip Gill was 8th in the 1600m. Junior Pape Davidson was 5th in 400m. Sophomore Audrey Kate Smith was 6th in the 3200m. The girls 4x200m of 8th grader Grayson Akridge, Junior Anne Stockman, and Seniors Colleen Luttrell and Carley Perkins were 3rd. The boys 4x800m of Stone Smith, Hadyn Sayner-Oubre, Wesley Robinson, and Phillip Gill were 1st. 
 
Our athletes and coaches also participated in the unity walk around the track with the 700 other athletes there as a reminder of Dr. King’s teachings. It is always a special sight to see. Go Saints!
