Drivers’ Education

May 29-June 4, 9:00am - 3:00pm • $275
(Tuesday - Friday the first week and Monday the next)
Must be 15 years of age and have a valid learner's permit before completing the driving portion. Upon Satisfactory completion of the course students will receive a certificate of completion for drivers' education that may be used for insurance discounts. Students will also have the opportunity to earn their boaters certification. In addition to the above, students may also be able to satisfy the driving portion of the driver's license test through drivers' education. They will drive with the instructor and receive a certificate through Alabama's third party drivers' education course.

Get Cooking with Class - Leigh Barnett

June 4-8, 10:00am - 12:00pm • $150
Rising 5th-12th
The program combines important life skills classes with etiquette and culinary arts. Students will learn how to follow recipes, measure ingredients, mix things properly, set a proper table, shop on a budget and handle knives-- instilling confidence in young cooks and future hostesses.

  • Monday: select a menu, theme, review recipes, and make a shopping list.
  • Tuesday: a day at the supermarket. How to shop and select the perfect ingredients.
  • Wednesday: Food preparation and table setting.
  • Thursday: Parents will join us as students serve their delicious meal and show off their hostess skills.

Sixth Grade English Summer Reading Class

June 4-8, 12:00 - 3:00pm or July 23-27, 9:00am - 12:00pm • $100 
Rising 6th graders
Dive into the American Revolution with the Sixth Grade summer reading book, Sophia’s War by Avi. Join Mrs. Campbell for this fun way to accomplish some of your summer reading! During the course of the week, we will read the book, and look closely at vocabulary, maps, character development, and figurative language. Sixth Graders will also complete their summer reading projects. 
**Students will need to bring their books.

Youth Judicial Camp

June 11-14, 9:00am - 11:30pm • $150 
Rising 8th -12th
Over the course of 4 days, students will prepare a court case and compete in a mock trial.  Students will learn the roles of attorneys, witnesses and judges in addition to legal procedures.  This camp is a fun way for students to prepare for Youth Judicial as well as to enhance public speaking and critical thinking skills.

Create Your Own Masterpiece

June 18-20, 9:00am - 11:30pm • $150 
Rising 6th -12th
Create your own abstract masterpiece with Mrs. Oldweiler.  We will layer and texturize a canvas.  then we will use neutral colors with a little shimmer if you so choose.  Hang your art in your room at the end of te session!

Discover the One and Only Ivan

July 9 - 12, 2018: 9:00 am - 12:00 pm • $150
Rising 4th graders
Come join Mrs. McCullough for a fun-filled week as we learn more about Ivan! Activities will include readers’ theatre, ‘map studies, vocabulary activities, pre- reading discussion, character discussion, painting pictures, crossword puzzles, voice and genre studies, visualization activities, and games as well as writing activities- all with a focus on the book The One and Only Ivan. The result at the end of the week will be completion of your summer reading requirement and project!
**Teacher will provide materials, books and snacks.

Life Skills - Allie Fuquay

June 25-28 • 1:00pm - 4:00pm • $125
Completed 10th-12th graders
Learn how to thrive as a young adult in the 21st Century. You will have the opportunity to open a bank account, learn about credit and budgets, register to vote (if you will be old enough to vote in the next election), plan out a fitness and nutrition guide, write your résumé, learn how to do laundry, take care of your car, and more!

Scavenger Hunt with Photography - Leigh Brown

July 9-11: 9:00-11:30am • $150
Rising 4th-6th grades

Everyone loves to take photographs!  Students will learn the basics of digital photography and composition in this exciting summer adventure!  The students will take pictures of items around the school.  However, to find these items, they must first answer a riddle.  After solving their riddle and a photographing their objects students will finalize and print their photos, thereby composing a summer portfolio of their first adventure in photography.

Math and Test-taking “brush-up”

July 16-19, 2018: 1:00-3:00pm • $150
Rising 8th-12th grades
This course will be a great primer-course to help students start the new year on a high note. Join Mr. Brigham as he teaches you habits to help you get the best possible results out of your time and effort throughout the new school year. This course will focus on a refresher for Math skills and will include the pre-algebra and algebra skills needed for all St. Paul’s Math classes. The math portion of the ACT will also be addressed. In addition to math skills, there will be test taking and study skills for all subjects covered.

Photography, Pets and People - Leigh Brown

July 16-20, 2018: 9:00-11:30am • $150
Rising 4th-6th grades

Students will learn the basics of digital photography and composition and will learn to use a small camera to photograph their pets and family.  After photographing their loved ones, student will finalize and print their photos, and complete the week with an exciting PHOTO BOOK of their first adventure in photography!

It’s a Whole New World…Get Ready for 3rd Grade!

July 24-26, 2018: 9:00-11:00am • $130

Is your rising 3rd grader nervous about moving to the big campus? If so, this camp will be perfect! Ms. Hack will guide our newest students on a tour of the campus, explore classrooms and the cafeteria, and answer all of your child’s burning questions about 3rd grade life! At the same time, we will review 2nd grade math and reading skills needed to have a successful start to the year. Your child will end this camp excited and ready to begin 3rd grade with confidence!

College Applications - Leigh Barnett

July 30-August 2, 2018; 9:00-11:00am • $100

Seniors, are you stressed out about making progress on your college applications before school starts? Does your summer already look so busy you feel like you cannot possibly fit it in? Sign up for this class and solve all your problems! You will finalize your resume and work on the online application formats for the Common Applications, Apply Texas, and others. The class size for this course will be small enough to allow time for plenty of individual attention! By the end of class, you should be able to finish your resume and several applications and, especially if you have also signed up for our Writing the College Essay class, be close to being done! 

College Essay Writing - Leigh Barnett and Eleanor Baker

This class meets Monday-Thursday July 30-August 2-12:00-2:00pm • $100
Rising 12th
Who wants to get that college essay done and over with before senior year even begins? This one-week class in advanced expository and narrative composition is aimed to generate ideas for college essays. Students will examine prompts from various colleges and begin the essay-writing process by brainstorming and developing ideas into crisp and original pieces of writing.

Middle School Study Skills

July 30-Aug. 2, 2018: 10:00am - 12:00pm • $150
Rising 5th - 8th graders
This course will address the study skills that will help students succeed in Middle School. Mrs. Wagner will cover topics like setting goals, how we learn, identifying individual learning styles, getting organized, reading and following directions, reading and writing strategies, memory techniques, test-taking strategies and using graphic organizers.

The Art of Writing an Article

July 30-August 2, 2018: 9:00-11:00am • $100
Rising 9th-12th
Max 10 students
Want to write for your school paper, a local magazine, or perhaps an on-line publication? You must be able to pitch ideas, research subjects, conduct interviews, and then craft your words into articles someone wants to read. In this class Mrs. Baker will teach you these skills as well as read samples of articles we want to emulate and those we’d rather not. We’ll discuss how to make money writing and strategize about ways to get your words in print. Asking is the hardest part. In addition to teaching English classes at St. Paul’s, Mrs. Baker is an editor and writer for ACCESS Magazine, a local women’s monthly publication.

Super Fun Summer Math Camp
