Senior Spotlight: John Shell
Today’s Senior Spotlight is John Shell. John has been running cross country since 7th grade. He overcame a series of injuries early in his running career to continue improving in the sport. His senior year he’s taken on more of a leadership role on the team. He can be seen taking splits at all of the meets and cheering all his teammates on.
John and his friend Reese joined the team in 7th grade and have been loyal to the team ever since. John is a loyal friend to Reese and several other of his teammates. It takes some time and effort to get to know him, but once you do, you’ve gained a true friend.
Early on, John gained a reputation for having very detailed running logs. In fact, as his coach I often used his running logs as an example for much older teammates of how it’s supposed to be done. I often joked about how much of a rule follower John was and still is. He’s very goal oriented and craves structure and routine. He’s very driven, and that will take him far.
