Howard Leads St. Paul's Past Citronelle For Their First Area Win

Madeline Howard was dominant in the circle, as she rang up 18 strikeouts in the Saints' 8-1 victory over the Citronelle Wildcats Tuesday night. Howard gave up two hits and one run over seven innings while walking none. 

St. Paul's scored 6 runs int he first inning on the way to victory. Morgan Maples, singled scoring one run, Libby Passeau drew a walk, scoring one run, and error scored three runs and Maddie Stokley grounded out, scoring one run. 

The Saints added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Citronella committed an error, and Fancy Malone grounded out, each scoring one run. 

Citronelle scored one run in the top of the seventh on a solo home run to left field by Smith. 

Morgan Maples, Emily Lockhard, and Kendall Dougherty each collected two hits for St. Pauls. Maples, Malone, and Stokley each drove in one run. The Saints had a strong eye at the place, accumulating eight walks for the game. Howard and Libby Passeau led the team with two walks each. Ava Voris stole two bases, while the Saints had nine stolen in the game. 

The next contest will be this weekend in Leroy, Alabama for the Tombigbee Tournament held at Leroy High School on Friday and Saturday.
