Today’s Senior Spotlight is Ann Whigham. Ann joined the track team her junior year, and then joined the cross country team her senior year. During track season she focuses on the sprints. But during this cross country season she embraced the long distances.
Today’s Senior Spotlight is Anne Stockman. Anne has been on the track team for a couple of years now, but only came out for the cross country team her senior year. Unlike others who want to have a nice and easy senior year, Anne wanted to get outside her comfort zone and challenge herself. She’s certainly done that! It’s been great to watch her embrace distance running.
Today’s Senior Spotlight is Grace Swain. Grace is not only one of the top runners on the cross country team, she’s also one of the top players on the varsity tennis team. This year, she stepped into the role of team chaplain for the cross country team. In that capacity, she prepares devotionals for the team that get them ready for each week.
Today’s Senior Spotlight is Emily Miles. She is a multiple time All County selection in the sports of cross country and soccer. This year, she won the County Championship in cross country. She is also the leading scorer on the varsity soccer team.
Today’s Senior Spotlight is Evie Epker. Evie was on and off the team several times throughout her time at St Paul’s, but decided to rejoin the team her senior year and she’s been such a joy to have on the team. Many people want to coast through their senior year. But Evie wanted to challenge herself and enjoy herself. She’s definitely done both of those things.
For today's Senior Spotlight, we have Neely Kate Benton! Neely has been running cross country since 7th grade. Multiple times she's been selected to the All County team in the sports of cross country and outdoor track. She's improved her times every single year that she's competed.
The Saints' varsity girls cross country team won the 2023 County Championship! The meet took place on Thursday October 19 at Faith Academy Sports Complex.
The girls varsity cross country team won three of the five flights at the McGill Toolen Relays in route to a team victory. The meet took place on Thursday October 12 at Faith Academy Sports Complex.
8 of the 10 girls that competed at the Jesse Owens Classic finished with new lifetime personal bests for 5km. The meet took place at the Oakville Indian Mounds Park in Danville, AL on Saturday October 7.
Emily Miles was named the Mobile Optimist Club's 6a-7a Runner of the Week for her performance at the Foley XC Invitational on September 16. At that meet, she finished 2nd overall with a new personal best time of 19:55 for 5km.
The Saints finished 3rd out of 10 schools in the Admiral Twilight Invitational. The meet was held on Thursday August 24 at the Bayside Academy Athletic Complex.
Despite missing 5 of their top 10 runners, the varsity girls finished 4th out of 19 schools at the Foley XC Invitational. The meet was held at the Graham Creek Nature Preserve on Saturday September 16.
Against some of the best teams in a three-state area, the Saints finished third out of 8 schools in the Challenge of Champions at Langan Park on September 2.
Against most of the best teams and runners in Mobile and Baldwin counties, the girls' cross country team finished 3rd out of 19 schools despite still missing 5 of their top 10 runners. The meet was held at beautiful Historic Blakeley State Park in Daphne, AL on Saturday September 30. Cool fall temps, fast competition, and the relentless training they put in the weeks leading up to the race led to many PRs for the team.
